Most sports venues limit size and restrict entrance to clear bags only.

Some schools were requiring them at some point.  I don't know if they still do.

Good idea, especially in schools.

If schools don't want metal detectors installed, then clear back packs might be second best.

Also, kids most likely won't try to smuggle in bunches of various illegal 'items'. (pills, p*t, and whatever else that's harmful)

Clear back packs are fine with me.

When I was in college I worked in Alexanders Dept Store at 59th and Lex in NYC and I think we had to have a small clear pouch with our belongings in it. I can not remember what I needed to carry with me

They are made for security reasons.

We were required to carry them where I worked (retail). Many places do. Would I carry one if my job didn't require it? Nope.

Events and travel require them.  Here, movie theaters also require clear backpacks or totes.  Too many folks want to start trouble.
