I don't keep more than 30 emails in my inbox. Don't let the spam folder hold more than a few. The trash has a couple of thousand but they are automatically deleted after 30 days.

This must be email cleaning up day. That's what I was doing for awhile, got tired and came here for a break.
I agree, don't let it go. I file some of them, so I don't want to hit delete for all.
I don't remember getting so many emails years ago. It's getting much worse now.
I just don't have time to deal with it. I try to not let it go too long.

Well I don't know the technical terms involved but there is reported to be an environmental reason for clearing emails and how storing them can add to a carbon footprint.

I never get my email inbox whittled down to zero, but rather than waiting and making it a "project" I do this:
Make a point every day to go back in time and delete 10 at a time. I sometimes do that several times, but anyone with a minute to spare can delete 10 old emails in no time at all. The deleting count adds up very quickly

I guess it's my OCD tendencies, but immediately after I read something in my Inbox, I either respond to it, delete it, or file it in my "Notes" folder for future reference. ![]()

Same here.
I keep up with my emails as they come in so I never have many in my main account. I have folders to organize important emails I need to save for awhile.
I have another email address that I used to give out to stores and other "unimportant" places. I got tired of deleting that junk so I've unsubscribed to most of those. I'm also refusing to give out my email now unless it's absolutely necessary.
My sister has several hundred emails on her phone and computer. I know because I've seen both her laptop and iPhone, and I saw the number next to her mail icon. My husband has a couple hundred. I've always liked things neat, organized, and under control, and that includes my email accounts.

My inbox is empty. I look at it daily, eiher delete, respond then it moves to my sent folder, or move to a specific folder.
My spam gets deleted every day as does my trash folder.
What I need to clean out is my specific folders such as Sent, Confirmations, Easy Returns, Items to keep, etc. I forget about going through them and cleaning out old no longer necessary items.
I will start doing that some each day. Thanks for the reminder.

I do that regularly.

When I need to keep the info in an email for a while ( order confirmation, delivery date, etc. ), I simply take a screenshot. I create " albums " so I can direct each appropriately.
This frees up email. When I receive the order, I go back to that album and delete the screenshot.
I always can see which incoming email needs attention.
