Google the story if you're interested or go to classaction.org and other news sources. I haven't been able to find an update to the story that would tell exactly what is going on with it right now. The news suppposedly first came out last year. I use this cleaner occasionally in diluted form.

A class action alleges Simple Green cleaning products contain ingredients known to cause harm to humans, animals and the environment despite defendant Sunshine Maker’s assurance that its formulas are “non-toxic.”
The 32-page case out of California says consumers who view the “non-toxic” claim on Sunshine Maker’s product labels reasonably expect that the cleaning solutions are safe for humans, pets, and the environment. According to the suit, however, Simple Green products contain various harmful chemicals that have been linked to blurred vision, asphyxiation, dizziness, nausea, skin blisters, muscular twitching, headaches, and irregular heartbeat. Additionally, some ingredients are potential carcinogens, the suit alleges.
The case claims that by falsely labeling its products as “non-toxic,” the defendant has sought to capitalize on consumers’ desire for safe cleaning products that do not contain harsh chemicals.
As a result of its alleged “greenwash[ing]” scheme, Sunshine Makers has harmed both consumers and its competitors, “over whom Defendant maintains an unfair competitive advantage,” the suit alleges.

Guess who is bringing suit, Simple Green competitors, LOL.
It has many of the same ingredients as my shampoo. This is a degreaser and cleaner. Don't buy it if you don't care about cleaning power. p.s. aspirin is toxic

People can be toxic.

These types of suits are designed to damage a company. They often arise in a state like California where the lawmakers have decided that nearly everything is a cancer risk. Get the right judge and jury and the bad old toxic company can be forced to change their evil ways. Even though they're doing absolutely nothing wrong.

There's a class action settlement. File your claim by August 16, 2021.

The lawsuit covers purchases that go back to 2016, and, you do not need receipts to file a claim. You will get $3.00 per item, so, if you bought 10 Simple Green products between 2016 and now, you'll get a refund of $30.

The green cleaner market is largely unregulated — which means consumers still must be wary of what's in the bottle. Even cleaning products labeled “natural” may contain some fraction of synthetic chemicals..and your totally right about California...

Any cleaner, even the ones that are "green" contain some sort of chemical...and your totally right about California...
Everything is a chemical. Even good 'ol H2O, water is a chemical.
