The historical society in Framingham Massachusetts has created a Facebook page for their native son, Civil War General George H. Gordon.
They have his diary from 1861 and are leaving status updates from it daily on FB. They started with the March 4th entry about Lincoln's Inauguration and he is now talking about succession and the impending crisis at Fort Sumter.
I think this is a great idea and a very interesting way to teach history to this generation hooked on social media. If you "LIKE" him, his daily status will appear on your newsfeed.
Now, if some Southern group would do the same so we could see events from both perspectives.
