My friend and I were talking today about being former smokers. I quit in 1996, and we were wondering how much cigarettes cost these days. If any of you smoke ( no judgement ) or know what they cost, would you share ?

@indoor kitty My neighbor says a pack of cigarettes runs $10/ish.  When I quit a zillion years ago it was closer to $5/ish.

I started in the '60s when I was in the military and they were $1.90/carton.  I quit in 1985 because they were too expensive at about $9.60/carton.

I'd like to know about how much they are now too.  Of course it depends on state taxes.

I think WV price per pack is closer to $5.65.

My husband has always bought his cigarettes by the carton, in VA, and that cost is now $63.00.

Wow, after checking that list I am grateful my husband and I quit almost 30 years ago.  We live in Chicago area and at those prices I don't think I could enjoy smoking any more.

@SeaMaiden

And they are more because they charge federal & county tax on each pack which could add another dollar or more😳

My son paid $13.75/pack that's when he quit🙂🙂🙂 thank god
