Seriously, that woman and her husband should be urged to release it back into its natural habitat. Somehow, though, I don't think they are going to do that at all (OMG..."Bubba"???!!?).
I think "Bubba" is a common southern nickname.

A lot of superstition around the chupacabras. I saw this on the news last night.
Wish we could get to the bottom of it.
"Goat s*ckers". Ever see one of the original drawings based on "sightings"? Looks like an alien.
Whatever this animal is, maybe it's a mutation of some weird cross between 2 different animals. Odd how this is the first, at least that I know of, actual live capture.
There was one a few years ago but the animal was deceased and it did have mange.

Do you know what its origins are? Is it a shortened version of a name (Robert?) or endearment? It's just that I've always seen it associated with a not-too-terribly-bright person. At least that's the way it's depicted on TV and in movies.

I thought that at first...but the noise it made was not coon like at all.
I had a raccoon when I was little......until it destroyed my grandmother's kitchen and grandpa took it to the small local zoo that was here when I was little.........it would growl if you startled it...........this animal is sick, who knows what is wrong with it on the inside.......and that may have affected it's vocalizations........need just need a vet to get a blood sample and the mystery will be solved................................raven

Yes. That's the sad thing about it. Southern mannerisms and colloquialisms are often cast as less than intelligent.
I'm guessing "Bubba" is a derivative of "Brother" but don't know for sure.

I know I was so happy they didn't kill it. Wish a vet could take a look at it and help out with what it might be Cakers.

Thank you, BMUS, for explaining. BTW, I love most Southern mannerisms and colloquialisms.
