Re: Christmas plans have changed - ugh!

I'd call around to a few restaurants to see who's open. Chinese sounds goodSmiley Happy

I'm sorry your plans changed. How about going out xmas eve and having Chinese xmas day instead? Many places are open xmas eve. We are going to Duling-Kurtz in Downingtown and there are several other places open also.

I think it would be fun to go out to a fancy hotel and splurge on a lovely holiday dinner! I'm sure there would be beautiful decorations, delicious dishes and high prices. But if I were in your shoes, I'd do it in a minute!

Hubby and I were traveling one Christmas and had an outstanding dinner (buffet) at a lovely historic hotel in CA. It was very pricey, but we enjoyed the ambiance and the food.

Usually the only restaurants opened (besides Chinese) are the ones in posh hotels or resorts. At this late date it may be difficult to get reservations.

Do an internet search as to which restaurants might be open in your town. There might be some besides the finer hotels.

Chinese food.

Look on Yelp for a nice place in any area, you can call ahead to make sure they're open.

Do you have a Ruth's Chris in your town? They are serving Christmas dinner.

Re: Christmas plans have changed - ugh!

Many Christmases we don't even do a real dinner. We have lots of snack type trays and just kind of 'graze' all day. Some with veggies and dips, some with cheese and crackers and sliced meats, others with cookies, cakes, or other holiday sweets, some with various nuts and chips and such.

No one seems to mind, because there is lots of food, but no real cooking or meal time, and everything can be prepped the day or so before.

I do not understand why your daughter's not worth cooking a Christmas dinner for? It's only 1 less person than planned. You could fix a lovely little dinner and then go to a movie.

Is it more of a thing of disappointment that your son cancelled on you to go to his girlfriend's? If that is the case, then I could see why you want to change the plans, to sort of ease the sadness. Otherwise, my daughter is worth me cooking a dinner for.
