Christmas plans have changed - ugh!

Last Christmas I had 8 family members for dinner, and it was a very nice day.

This year, it was going to be just myself and my son and daughter (adults).

Now my son said he is having dinner with his girlfriends family.

So, it will just be myself and my daughter. Well, I don't really feel like cooking dinner for just the two of us.

I live in the Philadelphia area, and was thinking of maybe taking a drive and going somewhere to dinner, but I am thinking most places are closed.

Any suggestions? I really don't feel like sitting home - just the two of us.

TIA

Why aren't you discussing this with your daughter?

Lots of people eat out on holidays but you may not be able to get a reservation this late. Personally, I'd miss the leftovers.

Most regular restaurants are closed for Christmas but I know that we have a couple of large resort type facilities where people go to spend Christmas as a family get a way. They do serve Christmas dinner. Do you have anything like that near you??

I would call around. Hotel restaurants, quaint nearby towns' restaurants, etc. Being it's only two (and not an entire group), you'll be surprised how accommodating restaurants are. A table for two is not a huge request. Restaurants, nice hotel restaurants are packed around here. I've been noticing that lots of folks are now opting to enjoy restaurants for holiday lunches/dinners. p.s. Sometimes excellent four star hotels offer holiday buffets, too. Huge selections of just about every type of food, live relaxing holiday music. Of course, they have regular menu-type service, too, as well as special holiday menu.

Our newspaper posts holiday hours for open restaurants and lists if they have a buffet, special menu or regular menu. Check the paper.

Longwood Gardens seems to be open on Christmas....it is supposed to be 60 degrees in our area- at great time to go to the gardens and see the Christmas doings.

Call them and see if their restaurant has an opening too!!

Ritz Carlton Hotel and The Four Seasons in Philly are both serving Christmas dinner. pretty pricey but I am sure either would be very nice.

Lots of good suggestions. If I lived near Longwood Gardens (have seen photos), I would call them first. Looks as though it would be a beautiful setting!
