Re: Christmas lights strung at the Back Fence!

Another super chilly morning but is suppose to get up to about 70 - we shall see. Later this week the experts say we are due some more rain - that is really good news. The rain we had last week has about sunk in through the cement like soil so this will help - sure hope it happens.

In a few need to awaken Davey, listen to his grumbles and then to school and then I stop by Curves on my way back home. My joints are really bothering me but that happens when it is cold, hot or damp. What can I say.

Decorations here at the FEnce are gorgeous. Am bringing some old, but beautiful wreaths to hang on the Fence - love Christmas wreaths. They have weathered the years and remain so very pretty. Have lots of big stuffed critters also so may leave a couple of gorgeous white bears all decked out sitting on the Fence also.

Hope all have a great day.

Re: Christmas lights strung at the Back Fence!

Ooh Freddie thanks for adding the wreaths and stuffed white bears.

I was determined to get my house decked out for Christmas (don't do all that much) and finished the 3 foot tree around 11:00 PM last night. I was not going to bed until it was done so I went to bed (or should I say recliner - ahh this shoulder) happy.

I have plush animals that I put out like two hallmark snowman scenes that jingle or sing (if I'd put some batteries in them), a stuffed grinch and his dog max, a small stuff reindeer and elf - all oldies but goodies. As I unpack them, I tell them don't worry, I will find a place for each and every one of you. I put a couple upstairs in the office and main bedroom, others are tucked into bookshelves - just love em.

Re: Christmas lights strung at the Back Fence!

I put on my big girl pants and made an appointment with the shoulder specialist. I go the morning of December 18th and will go to work after the appointment. If he pulls out that huge needle, I hope I'll take it as well this time as I did 10 years ago, when I didn't know any better {#emotions_dlg.scared}

Re: Christmas lights strung at the Back Fence!

One of our dear friends died unexpectedly and our hearts are heavy. What a lovely, gracous and kind lady. I cannot tell you how many times she visited me as well as Jim when we were hospitalized. I remember when he had his heart surgery and I stayed with him in the hospital she would come to visit Jim and would bring me delicious food........ask what she could do and was more than willing to do whatever she could. I shall miss her calls and hugs and sweet smile. Her memorial service is tomorrow. She shall be sorely missed by an untold number of people. She was a godly lady who loved the Lord and her family and friends and there's no doubt in my mind she shall be justly rewarded.

Sue I am so sorry about the loss of your friend. When we lose someone suddenly and unexpectedly, it's so shocking. I hope that in the case of your friend, her angel came for her and it was a peaceful passing.

Hey all - not much going on other than busy at work. I'm about ready to head home and don't want to go out in that wind .

Re: Christmas lights strung at the Back Fence!

Well, thank you Freddie, that's very sweet of you to say. Thanks to all of you for your condolences. I very much appreciated them. Bird Mama, there's no doubt the angels came for my friend based on her godly life. I loved hearing this and know it is based on scripture. Epi, she really was a wonderful friend and I do have so many lovely memories of her. She was one of a kind. The service was brief, but very nice and despite the occasion, it was wonderful seeing old friends again. Isn't it odd that it's usually sad occasions that bring people together? Especially as we get older and it's a bit more difficult to be out and about.

After the memorial service we ate at Famous Dave's Barbecue at Jim's suggestion. He was in the mood for chili and some of Dave's bread pudding which is just beyond scrumptious! We shared it and it's served with whipped cream and ice cream........talk about decadent! Oh, and Jim ordered his chili and fries, but I wanted ribs one of which I shared with him and I ate one with fries and a few bites of chili and the rest I brought home and we intend to have them later this afternoon. The ribs are wonderful also. It was nice to get out despite the reason.

I now have all of my shopping done and am relieved and hope I made the right choices for everyone. I wanted to send the Berkshire throws to my brother and sister in law, but the reviews (at least many of them)were so negative I changed my mind. My sister in law is being treated for colon cancer and is having radiation and chemo and I thought the throws would be cozy for her, but I sure didn't want to give her anything else to worry with so opted for My Grand Ma's Coffee Cake which I'd sent once before to rave reviews. Hope it's as good this year. Do any of you have these throws?

After Jim got my scooter off the lift last night at the church building he stumbled on a rock and fell. A friend had come out to help him get the scooter off and he and I had started toward the building when we heard him cry out and went back to see about him and our friend helped him up. He fell on his left arm and it was quite painful, but not broken thankfully, but it definately shook him up. He was able to walk into the building and went ahead and taught his Bible class and did all right though his arm was hurting. I put a pain patch on it after we got home and he went to bed and to sleep, but woke up early because of the pain and got up. His biggest concern was that he'd pulled the leads loose on his pacemaker, but apparently that didn't happen. He's still hurting, but just bruised we think.

Not much activity here at the Back Fence; guess it's because of being busy doing Christmas 'stuff' and hope it's not cause you're not feeling well.

Happy Thursday all! Sue
