Christmas feels like Sunday Afternoon

I went out & about just now.

Feels like a late Sunday afternoon.

More businesses open than years past.

Starbucks, Walgreens, CVS, like always, but...

Denny’s...packed.

Macaroni Grill....packed.

My big-chain grocery store, Tom Thumb, packed.

And lots of cars driving around.

Also...lots of people walking/jogging in this nice DFW weather.

I could almost see...a ‘Turkey Trot’ type of event, that many

communities have on Thanksgiving, in the future.

Or more & more business open on Christmas afternoon.

Just my observations...2018.

@sidsmom.  We have a good chance of snow several days this week in the Albuquerque area, which will surely go your way.  Enjoy the pretty weather now.

@Kachina624

Definitley rain is expected, but the # of businesses open

would remain the same with/without the weather.

Just a matter of time before the Big Box stores

are open Christmas afternoon/evening.

Christmas will become the New Thanksgiving.

Or something like that!

Pretty nice here on the east coast. I figure one of these days there will be no holidays because everything will just stay open and everybody will be working, though today our Walmart and Wegmn's is closed today. Back when I was a little girl everything closed down on Sunday's because of the blue laws, but that's quite a few years ago.

DH and I went to get a newspaper at Walgreens and there were lots of people coming in and out.  They had three cashiers working steadily. They were out of the local paper so we drove around to find another place. We stopped at the Burger King drive thru to quench our thirst and was it ever busy too. Cars were lined up and both lanes busy.  We live in Copperas Cove a Central Texas small town near the Fort Hood Community. I agree that it won't be long before more and more businesses open up on Christmas.

I just came back from a walk down Michigan Avenue.  It was delightful.  Perfect walking weather--mid 40s--not overly crowded.  Only stores I saw open were CVS and Walgreens.

I think we'll be getting some of that snow here in Colorado, too. We sure do need it along the front range. Pikes Peak is sort of barren and not much snow up there now for this time of year. @Kachina624

Dear QVC Diary - Enjoying this casual day with sunshine. We have our intimate family holiday tomorrow so the time works for everyone. Today is a leisurely day cooking. House cleaned. First chance to sit down. Husband sitting with the TV way too loud. A-nnoy-ing. That's a new thing in our house. I'm trying to be kind. He did get hearing aids but needs to wear at home. Sorry for the vent. Daughter dropped by to wrap gifts on my long table and place under the tree for tomorrow. She disappeared and took a snooze on the comfy guest bed. She makes me smile. I love it when she pops in. Quieter over here than with her 3 roommates. Today has been one of the best Christmas days in a long time. Usually we juggle 3 Christmas gatherings with family but this year, we only have grown children and grandchildren due to aging parents who aren't doing well. We dropped by lunch and they were happy. Sis isn't happy with me since we're not hosting extended family this year but I shared the news a month ago and I'm being kind with her impatience. She's retired and I still work. Husband and I looking at retirement in 12 months. Trusting we'll have more time and energy for entertaining. Woo and hoo. Take care, good people.

@SilleeMee.  Your mountains and ours started the season off like gangbusters, then someone turned the faucet off and there hasn't been much since Halloween.  A lot has melted because it's been warm.  Now they say El Nino is "kicking in" so maybe the SW will get more moisture.  Fingers crossed.

Did you have a nice Christmas?  My dogs and I have just been goofing off all day.
