Although I don't decorate, I totally know what you mean!   Sounds like something my husband would do, so I'm kind of glad I don't decorate anymore.

I remember when we first bought this house - we were doing a lot of painting and stuff in the interior.  A couple of days in a lady from up the street just showed up at our door (we all know how much I love that - not!).  Anyway, what she had to say was 'I always wanted to see the inside of this house'.

Uh, ok.  Geez, I'm not good at politely saying no when people push themselves on me so I let her in and toured her around.  But - it is not the sort of thing I would WANT to do!

I have the same neighbor. We redid our kitchen and he wanted to see it. I just told him it was not a good time and thank god he never came back.

My husband and I are very private and would never invite any one in to see what we did with our house or how we decorate for the holidays. I don't think there is any thing wrong with wanting to show off your house, I just don't like doing it.

@panda1234  Good for you, Panda.  The nerve of some people doesn't amaze me any longer, but it is still annoying.

When I was able to really go wild with decorating our home the person who would bring everyone here to see it was my sweet, angel  Dad. He loved to see how every year I would do things different and he was always so thrilled to walk in here when things were all done and i would have every room decorated inside our home and every shrub and deck and porch railings and posts all covered in lights. He loved the scenes that I would put together out side in our yards. What really impressed him was all my plants in our home I would make beautiful bows and put them on all plants branches and put little mini lights through out them. Sadly my loving parents have been gone for many years but for me it was my Dad who would brag and bring everyone here to see how I decorated. I think your husband is very proud of you and what you do in your home so I would enjoy his wanting to make you shine in  what you do.

I think he is very proud of you, the home you've made, and it is a compliment.

But, I do understand exactly how you feel. You do it for your family and those close enough to you to be spending time at your home during the season, and it does kind of feel like bragging or showing off (not that you are doing that) when it isn't people you'd normally invite in. I think he is just excited about what you've done, and wants to share it with others.

have to say I am a fan of all the lights on the home. I have always been the more light the better if they are taste fully put on a  home. Not just thrown on but put on with some class.

Maybe he's proud of you. I would take it as a compliment.
