On many movies and TV shows they portray people as decorating their Christmas Tree on Christmas Eve. Do people really do this? I just wonder if it is a regional tradition or if it is "pure Hollywood" and real people don't really wait until Christmas Eve? I put my tree up in early December. I would like to know if any of you wait until Christmas Eve.

I do mine the day after Thanksgiving. What I notice a lot on Hallmark movies is they start to decorate the tree before putting on the lights. Seems backwards to me, trying to work around the decorations. .

Don't celebrate, but most of my neighbors seem to put up their trees shortly after Thanksgiving. Lights outside too. Some are little too much but they look nice at night. Most trees seem artificial too. I bet those that use real trees wouldn't put up so early.

we always did it on Christmas Eve, it's a German Austrian tradition (or it used to be ) the Christkind bought the tree and rang a bell to let us know

My mom, who is 90, said when they were growing up they decorated their tree on Christmas Eve. When i was growing up we decorated the week before; now its much earlier-i usually do mine the week after Thanksgiving.

I would say that would be more of a tradition the day after Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving if you want. If I waited until Christmas Eve I would go nuts.
I always invite the grandkids over to help decorate when our tree goes up. My grand daughter puts on the tree topper for one.
They just live next door.

Back in the day, I recall seeing a movie or TV show where Santa brought the tree.

There WAS that "Married with Children" episode where they got a discarded tree on the 26th...

When I was growing up nobody I knew decorated their tree right after thanksgiving and most did decorate it Christmas Eve. When I was young we were told that Santa Clause decorated the tree and when older we always decorated it Christmas eve. We also kept it up until at least Ephinany or later. I do decorate mine now a week or so before Christmas and often leave it up until Feb some time or later. There is so much going on after Thanksgiving and until Christmas and no time to enjoy the tree!
