Nativity (sans the Infant) will go up at the start of Advent.
The tree (which this year will not happen) used to go up by Dec. 1st.
Some smaller Christmas decos around Thanksgiving but not everything.
Everything comes down after the Epiphany.

We tried that also and our mantle is not low. Somehow at least 1 or more of them figured out how to get onto the mantle and have some fun. We moved everything that they could use to help boost their height away from the mantle, but they still figured something out on how to reach it. Maybe they did the "stack a feline bit" and the top one jumped onto the mantle.
After that year we gave up and reduced it down to the wreath we put on the outside of our front door.

We do most of our decorating Thanksgiving weekend. We will be gone this year so I think I'll get a jump start a few days before then finish when we return.

We have ten indoor kitties now, and the only thing that has happened is they knock off a few unbreakable balls off the bottom of it.Joseph loves to sleep under the lights. When Anastasia was tiny she would crawl up in the tree and sleep in it. Adorable we thought.
We also put up a Christmas village and no problems there either. Yet. LOL

I will decorate over the Thanksgiving weekend most likely. Last year I got a new tree, and it was the most beautiful one ever. Sometimes it seems like too much trouble to put it up, but it's so beautiful once it's up. I don't know how Lisa R. has the patience for all those beautiful decorations. I've wondered whether she'll be offering not only clothes and handbags but also Christmas stuff in her own line when she leaves QVC. Lisa Rinna said "she'll be around," so I wouldn't be surprised to see her pop up as a vendor.

Hopefully, by December 15th. My tree stays up til January 6th.

Early December and it will all come down January 2nd. I love the decorations, but I'm always ready to start the new year and can't wait to take them down.

So you betcha I am out there right on the 11th no matter what putting up my decor. Then it is required to be down by Jan 2nd. And also - very limited what we can put up - 2 decor items plus lights for Christmas only.
Isn't that only for the outside? You can put your tree up inside whenever you want, right?
As long as it can't be seen from the outside. I got "the letter" one year for putting my window candles out before Dec 11th, and i was told we have to keep the garage door closed so the tree wasn't seen from outside. (our house is like a southern shotgun house - you can see all the way through it from the street)Our solution to that was to buy a garage door screen that blocks the ability to see into the house.I think our HOA president is a voyeur - he rides his bike around all day long and complains about things people have in their homes. I hate him and I don't say that word often.
I rented a condo with condo board people like that. They told us we couldn't take our trash out through the front of the building. I was told that the Head Pest used to watch the lobby through some special cable channel she had. I moved out after five months because I just couldn't stand them. They really were insane. A few times I took my garbage out the front because I was just so sick of their nonsense.
