I had planned on scaling back the number of Christmas cards I send out this year...but have decided I may send even a few more now. I think of so many older friends from church, which we can't attend right now,  and other former colleagues who have retired...we are all in the same situation but many are widows and are truly alone. They have been for months. I think a lovely Christmas card would brighten their day...and I love the idea of doing that since I can't be with them.  Do you plan on sending any at all this year?

Yes! I think this year is so crazy, it will be nice to send and receive a card.

 I will send out but 20 and under.  I always thought sending Christmas cards was a tradition but with the rise in the cost of stamps people stopped sending.

Re: Christmas Cards this year?

I am planning on sending them this year. In fact, I've already addressed them.  I cut back a few, but it's basically other same amount as last year;

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@lovesrecess   That sounds like an excellent idea.  That will make them feel better and will make you feel much better.  I always feel good when I do something for my fellowman, especially the elderly (like myself) or needy.

I haven't done this is years. I think this year is different and I want my family and friends to know we miss them and appreciate them so, yes I will send them out this year.

I always send cards to family and friends that I don't usually see over the holidays.  This year there will be even more people I will not see so I will probably send more cards.

Re: Christmas Cards this year?

I've sent cards for as long as I can remember.  I will send cards again this year.  Every year I seem to send less.  I get disappointed when year after year I send to some who never return any.  I eventually do drop them from the list.  These are usually people who I haven't seen in years and years or hears from in years and years, but still would like to hear from occasionally.  However, I guess they don't feel the same.  This year I will drop a few more from the list.  It takes time and effort which I don't mind doing.  And not to mention, stamps are expensive.  I love getting cards so much, especially over the holidays.

@lovesrecess

You make really good point about reaching out a bit more and I couldn't agree more.  I would think the cards would be much appreciated.  I was also thinking that adding a few sentences would be enjoyed.  It does not have to be a letter, but a few words of positivity and\or humor would be lovely.  I had been giving it a thought and will be sharing what I have learned this year (how to grocery shop on line,  how I enjoy walks, etc). Sounds a bit corny, I guess, but want to make some connection.

Haven't sent cards in years.  I either call or email people during the holidays.
