I have been taking hydrochloroquine for 15 years for my auto-immune disease, i was shocked by the report I so hope that the researchers are on the right track. The drug is not cheap runs approximately $6.60 per pill the article states 600 mg each pill is 200 mg.
The news tonight showed a doctor holding a sign stating "I'm working for you, stay home for us" so people stay home

@Isobel Archer @songbird @Marp @JohnnyEager Plaquenil is not a benign drug. I took it for a couple years back ln the 80s. It has some nasty side-effects when you first take it, but over the long term it suppresses the immune system which makes me wonder why it would be taken to fight off a virus. It also has a permanent effect on the retina of the eye.
I took it under the care of a rheumatologist and had to have my eyes checked every 6 months. They would keep track of the total cumulative mgs I had taken. Eventually there was an effect on my eyes and they decided I'd reached the max I should take so I discontinued it.

Fox has had on Dr.s and Specialist for the last 3 hours. Very promising. Not enough data long term yet but for some people it has really worked short term.

Chloroquine if taken in high dosages can cause kidney damage or failure in humans.

I just refilled my 90 day prescription. I take it for lupus and my rheumatologist watches the results of my eye exams closely.

I took it for a year and went into remission. I was going to start it again but my appointment was cancelled. I'm afraid there will be a shortage.

A man just died because his wife and he took this substance to try to become immune to COVID-19. It is irresponsible to hype this. There are trusting people who will believe whatever the people they follow in the entertainment media tell them. Well, now those folks have a death and a tragedy on their hands. How many will it take before they start to act responsibly? I hope they get sued. And I hope people stop recommending and implying we can safely take this without a doctor's supervision.

@Porcelain Who has said -or implied- that this drug could be taken wihout a doctor's supervision?
