You can google popular china patterns in 1980. Without the name of the manufacturer you will be sifting through thousands of pictures on Replacements and Ebay. If you have the time it will be interesting though. Good luck!

Was it a pure white or beige background?  Silver or gold trim?  China or ironstone? Shape of the cups?
