"When Child Believes Lost Toy is Only Traveling, Strangers Photoshop Animal in Scenes"
"When a little boy lost his favorite plush elephant, a family friend had the idea to ask people on the Internet to help create a magical explanation.
Explaining that the boy’s parents told him the plush elephant wasn’t really lost, but actually traveling around the world, strangers responded to the plea on Reddit with Photoshopped “vacation” pictures showing the toy elephant having a great time.
The elephant hung out with penguins in Antarctica…
…and explored Mayan ruins.
He hiked along China’s Great Wall…
…and even hopped a ride with a kangaroo.
The toy went snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef.
and also toured the White House…
And, our favorite, the tiny elephant is pictured visiting his cousins in Africa.
With adventures like that, it’s a lot easier for the little boy to understand why his elephant is gone on a very extended leave."

It's a very cute story. Obviously designed for social media and it's getting a lot of buzz and I'm sure it will be shown on all the morning tv shows. But, as real life mom, I would never have done such a thing. First, it's lie. A huge and contrived lie. I wouldn't have been able to tell such an elaborate lie to my child. Second, all of childhood is one big learning experience. Things like losing favorite toys are usually painful but if parents handle that loss in an age appropriate and HONEST way, the child learns to accept lost and learns how to deal with it. It's also helps children differentiate between the love we feel for our THINGS and the love we feel for people. So, yes. These people will get their 30 second bit on a bunch of shows but they deprived their child of a real life experience.

I love it when posters share positive stories.
This made me smile.
Especially the last picture with the little elephant bringing up the rear.
Thanks for posting @newziesuzie!

Oh my goodness! So cute. So, will his little elephant find his way back to the little boy? I sure hope so.

This is cute, and it's nice that people offered help with a spinoff of Flat Stanley, but I would've told my kid the truth to help him become more resilient.
