Chickenbutt & Free2Be: Polish Stoneware

CB, I mentioned to you on the Le Creuset line that QVC will be featuring a few new items of a line of Lidia's Polish stoneware. Just use SEARCH for "Polish stoneware."

A little upsetting, since we all miss Gloria and her line.

It's up now and there are three sets or choices, which come in two patterns. IMO the price says a lot {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} There's also a baker, not priced yet.

Ok, since we are on this topic, I need help... I bought a beautiful hand painted in P or tubal bowl and all it says on the bottom is "Coimbra hand painted inPortugal" and the name of the artist. I asked the store if they knew if it was heat safe, could I bake in it, put in dishwasher, etc.... But no one knew... Honestly it's so beautiful, even if I can only put cold food in it it was worth it....but I would love to know if anyone knows about this type of pottery.. Love my Polish, too...

I love the Polish stoneware also! I read a few months ago on here that one of the other shopping channels was selling it now. I totally forgot to check it until I saw your thread.

Has anyone seen it on the other channels?

I looked up Coimbra and it's a city in Portugal, which you probably already knew Smile

Does it say that it's stoneware, or can you tell that it is by the weight and maybe an unfinished ridge on the bottom?

The old Polish stoneware on Q can be used in the oven or microwave. If you don't know for sure about your piece, I'd just use it as a serving piece, too. Maybe someone else has that brand.

Is it actually made in Poland or just the ""look"" of polish stoneware? CH

I have seen it, I looked into it when I first found out, but that was more than a year ago. My take on it was that it wasn't the same quality that Gloria had.

We can still buy from Gloria, and I have. She has a webpage for Zanger P.S. There's also a pretty good site online that carries different brands of PS, including some from the same factory Gloria used. I think it's called PolMedia.

If you mean Q's new line, I have no idea.

The old line, from Gloria, was all made in Poland from an old factory, same method used for, I think, 700 years. Using design-cut sponges to dip and paint the pattern.

Yes Noel, I mean the new line. I don't own any PS, but always thought it was beautiful. CH
