Chick Fil A stopped selling salads

Due to a CDC recommendation my local Chick Fil A is not selling salads. Apparently there was another health scare with romaine lettuce and E coli.  This is getting ridiculous. Our food supply seems to be getting worse.  I was am friightened for our future generations. Although many foods had more preservatives in the 1970s I feel it was safer.

It was only for romaine grown in Salinas, Ca.  You'd think Chick fil a could come up with other lettuces or romaine grown in other places.

Apparently Aldis, Target and Wegmans were also impacted by the tainted food supply. I have to wonder if we should all just stop eating Romaine in favor of Iceburg?  I never hear anything about good old fashioned Iceburg lettuce that we grew up on.

Our McDonald's has stopped selling salads too. There was a romaine recall a year ago this week also.

I don't think iceberg lettuce has any nutritional value.  At least not as much as a darker or red leaf variety.  If it came to it, I would eat a salad without lettuce.

What do people do cra- on everything that is growing in the ground?  I will,never eat salad again.  The big e-coli monster.

@Lucky Charm

True, darker/more colorful is always better but Iceberg Lettuce

still offers many nutrients & fiber.   But I always have to giggle when

someone says 'no nutritional value'....I think, "compared to what??"

 @Jinlei.  The contamination is usually caused from run-off from areas where livestock is kept and is absorbed into the plant.

I read this explanation about romaine and issues with bagged lettuce on www.mashed.com

We grow our own romaine, other lettuces and kale hydrophonically so we don't have to worry about issues such as this.
