Re: Cherries for Toni

[ Edited ]

@Enufstuff  Great question! I'm the only child that has green eyes.  My Mom has blue grey eyes and my dad has brown eyes Smiley Happy.  I have two sisters: one has brown eyes and one has hazel eyes. Smiley Happy  That is so interesting about your gamily's hair colors and eye colors! I'm sure you all have beautiful eyes and beautiful hair.  That's interesting how your great grandmother had red hair and your grandmother had 8 blonde children.  I read somehwere that only 20 percent of blondes stay blonde into adulthood, their hair darkens up a lot in their teens like what happened to my formerly blonde hair. What's funny is I still have very light blonde leg and forearm hair, but I have dark eyebrows and blonde eyelashes.

Ooh I'll take a look at your artwork! Really great to hear from you, today Smiley Very HappyHeart  I'll try to find some of my artwork to post some time for you Smiley Happy.

@Witchy Woman   Just now, I was looking at my previous post of Toni Doll Cherry Dresses. I thought that I had responded to your post, but I had not. I like to answer everyone's posts and I'm so sorry to have missed responding to you.

Thank you for your reply and your compliments. I'm glad that you enjoyed seeing my pictures and the Cherry Dresses.

I do have a couple of Mary Engelbreit items with cherries in the designs.  I don't think that I have seen the Betsy Johnson designs with cherries. But, I do have a Betsy Johnson charm bracelet that is all heart shaped charms.

Your Sweet Romance cherry jewelry must have been lovely.

It sounds like something that I would wear. I love Sweet Romance jewelry. I have a Sweet Romance bracelet that has a beautiful Lily of the Valley design. The leaves are done in green enamel and the flowers are pearls. Lily of the Valley is my birth month flower, for May.

The first Sweet Romance pieces I ever bought are a charm bracelet with Egyptian charms and matching earrings. I love the set, but I think that I only wore it once. I have way too much jewelry and some I've never worn. Now, I've been giving some pieces to family and they appreciate it.

Oh, please, don't worry if you don't cover every issue I talk about.  You are so good about responding to everyone.

Your posts are about the only ones I respond to anymore.  I do read, but don't participate.  Mostly, I'm happier that way Cat Very Happy

Sweet Romance used to be a regular vendor at Value Vision (ShopNBC) and I loved Shelley Cooper, the designer and presenter.

There was something about those pieces that drew me in....The charms were always substantial and beautiful no matter the theme.  And, it was just fun to watch.

She maintains a website and I just signed up for her emails again.

Your Lily of the Valley bracelet sounds lovely.  I have always loved that flower and scent.  My mother used to grow them at the first home I remember in Illinois.  I think she got the slips from a neighbor and they flourished.  I could never grow them myself.

I'll bet the Egyptian charm pieces were stunning. My niece spent 5 years in Egypt and I always wanted to visit, but...hate flying so it never happened.  But I find their drawings and artwork intoxicating.

I'm going to see if there are any Egyptian pieces on the current website.

I always keep a lookout for your posts, but please, don't worry about responding to every detail.  Have a wonderful day Cat Very Happy

Beautiful King Tut bracelet at Sweet Romance!  I couldn't copy and past, but it's lovely.

She also has the cherries bracelet and earrings.  As I said, I donated mine for a charity auction.  The necklace was very lavish.  So pretty, but jewelry needs to be worn.

@Enufstuff  The blueberry muffins were a hit! I had to make some changes to the recipe since I only had 2 percent milk (I made buttermilk to try and have a richer flavor that  whole milk would've provided) and I added some lemon zest just for fun.  Absolutely delicious! Thank you Smiley HappyHeart

@SportyShorty07   I'm so happy that you and your family enjoyed the muffin recipe.

I have not bought whole milk since my children were young.

I've only bought 1% for the past 30 years. I use it for everything, including these muffins.

I don't think that the recipe specified whole milk, 2% would be fine to use. I think that any milk would work in this recipe.

@Witchy Woman  Like you, I read posts in several catagories, but mostly read them and only respond to a few.

It amazes me how much personal information people put out there for anyone and everyone to see. There is personal health information that I wouldn't want to share with my own children.  TMI

I don't think that I am an attention seeker, but I have been sharing some old pictures to go along with my Toni Doll stories. People seem to enjoy seeing them and I am having fun, making the doll dresses and creating silly stories.

By next week, I will post a few more old pictures from the 1950's, to go along with Toni's farm vacation story. I'm working on her new dress, now.

I try to focus on positive , uplifting things, not the negative.

It seems that we are surrounded by so much negativity in today's society.

Years ago, I bought some beautiful jewelry from Shop NBC.

But I didn't know that they sold Sweet Romance jewelry.

I found my pieces online, I think on Overstock.

In the 80's and 90's I bought a lot of Egyptian jewelry and Egyptian decor, including a wall tapestry, framed papyrus paintings, small statues and alabaster vases.

I have a whole dresser drawer filled with Egyptian style jewelry, some antique and some newer. I have a gold cartouche with my name in Hieroglyphics, that I still wear occasionally.

Being retired, I'm not dressing up for work and wearing my jewelry everyday. I live in caftans and will sometimes add jewelry.

For about eight years, I did Middle Eastern Dance and my dream was to go to Egypt someday. That never happened  and later, it seemed to be unsafe to travel there, or other places in the Middle East. It would have been quite the adventure.

How wonderful that your niece lived in Egypt for 5 years. That must have been amazing. Did she learn to speak Arabic?

She must have brought back some lovely things from Egypt.

Before I married my second husband, I was single for eight years and had a few Middle Eastern boyfriends. I did learn some Arabic words and how to cook some Middle Eastern foods. I still make taboule, baklava, Egyptian rose cookies, falafel, kibbe and couscous. I don't make hummus anymore, since I found a good brand in the supermarket.

On another topic, I also love Lily of the Valley. You may have seen the pictures of my spring flowers that I previously posted,

and there is a hill covered with Lily of the Valley. They have spread over the hill for the past 40 years.

They grow under our thirty pine trees. They love the acid soil and don't need direct sunlight. If you have a pine tree, perhaps

you could grow some beneath the tree. They do spread.

What amazes me is the fact that such a tiny flower can produce such a lovely fragrance.

I just looked at the Sweet Romance website and the King Tut

charm bracelet is the one that I have. I also have the two different styles of earrings, shown. I'm surprised that they are still selling those pieces, after so many years.

They are still selling the Lily of the Valley bracelet that I purchased ten years ago.

@Enufstuff  The blueberry muffins were a crowd pleaser! Thank you so much for the recipe Smiley Happy! Its good to know that I can use 1 percent or 2 percent for enxt time.  I made 1% buttermilk and used it for the blueberry muffin recipe and they turned out to be so delicious, so I'll do what you do and stick with 1 or 2 percent milk Smiley HappyHeart.  I hope you're enjoying your Fall season and coming up with some more Toni creations Smiley Happy

@Enufstuff

Thank you for your very lovely response.  Interesting that you loved Egyptian items.  I've been fascinated with them for many years, but never collected anything.

My niece's time in Egypt was unhappy.  Her husband was teaching and she felt unsafe going out alone. Several times she had confrontations in the streets.  She told me the men were very aggressive and often spoke disrespectfully to solitary woman.  I cannot remember where they lived exactly, so maybe it is different elsewhere.  She couldn't wait to leave and never learned the language to any extent.

Interesting that you liked Middle Eastern dancing.  It is such a rich, interesting culture, but I agree it is likely not the safest travel environment.  I'm a fan of the food also, but have never tried cooking anything.

That King Tut bracelet is beautiful, but quite pricey.  Like you, I'm retired and don't wear much jewelry even when I go out.  I'll go back and check for the Lily of the Valley bracelet.

I bought most of my jewelry from Value Vision (ShopNBC) as they used to have "big gold" items back when the price was lower.

I'll look foward to seeing your next Toni post.  I just love her although I never had many dolls as a child.  Not sure why, but I hardly remember playing with them.

Quacker Factory did a shirt w/cherries and sparkles on a black, white gingham background. I still wear it today.
