I just had an experience with Walmart that made me furious. I placed an online order. It qualified for free shipping. When I went to check out it directed me to pick up 4 of the items at the store.
I initiated a chat and said I'm using online ordering, so I don't have to go to the store. The rep said OK, I'll change it to delivery for you.
I went to check out, and he did change it. Now it included a delivery charge of 7.95, and a $10 tip charge.
I initiated another chat asked why I would have to pay this when I order online with free shipping. He said because you want it delivered from the store. I said I order online to be shipped for free. I said remove the $17 charge. I'll buy those items elsewhere. He said that is your right. I said I know.

Walmart is just too big. When shopping in store prices posted are not what is rung up. I checked my slip after I left the store I checked one item specifially and it was incorrect. I completed the survey they always send after checking out and expressed my dissatisfaction. I received a call, the gentleman wanted to know my issue and his answer was the prices are constantly changing and they can't keep up with it. My response was I make a decision on my purchase based on price and I wasn't happy. Said he was sorry and that's the way it is.

@manny2 There's a difference on the Wal-Mart app between "delivery" and "shipment". I order things all the time and am careful to select the shipping choice which theoretically means its shipped from a warehouse somewhere. Delivery means someone from a delivery service like grubhub will deliver stuff from the local store. Its the service where you pay an annual fee. For free shipping with the shipment option, you must order a minimum of $35.
When I order, I click " shipment" on each item I order and if its not available for shipment, I remove it and don't accept the delivery option, as you apparently did.

but that isn't your problem to solve, except by not shopping there

Exactly as @Kachina624 stated.
I order a lot from Walmart and I make sure that all of the items I order are available for shipping (not delivery or pick up in store) or I remove them from my order. Funny thing is that many of the items that I order for "shipping" are actually delivered to my home, same day or the following day, from the local Walmart. (they do this at their discretion and it does not cost me a delivery fee/tip as I have no idea that they do this until after the item is delivered).
I also have to continually check on the items that I reoder often as sometimes they are only available for pickup or delivery, then I check again a day or so later and the delivey option is again available. It all depends on their warehouse stock availability.

I didn't have an issue with Walmart's online ordering, but recently had an issue with Walmart in general. My daughter recently gifted me one of the new Keurig Coffee Makers with the pods. I had never had one of these coffee makers before so after reading all the inserts, it said you should descale the machine every 3 months.
So, I decided to use the Keurig coffee cleaner kit and went to Walmart to purchase it. The kit was $18 and change plus tax. After a few days, I was on Amazon for something else and decided to check the price for the Keurig cleaner kit and it was there for $11.19 with free 2 day Prime shipping. Same exact cleaner, same exact box. So, I returned the $18 box to Walmart for a refund, and when the clerk asked why, I told her it's $7 over priced.
No longer is Walmart a place where you will find the least expensive price for many things.

@FlyersGirl I also have shipment items delivered from the local store by their choice. No fee or tip involved.
I only live about 9/10 of a mile from a super center and go up about once a month and do a pick up order of stuff that I can't get by shipment. I order the heavy, bulky stuff for shipment.

No, @Kachina624 that isn't how it worked. My total was more than $35. I qualified for free shipping. I had to pick up 4 items from the store, and the rest would be shipped.
I initiated the chat asking why I would have to pick items up. That was why I order online. He changed it. I did not.
When I order online I expect everything to be shipped. I'm not driving to the store and I am not paying $17 to have the store deliver it.

@manny2 I don't think you understand what I'm saying. You chose to have non-stipment items delivered and that's why you were charged a delivery fee and tip. You still don't understand the different categories and the charges for each. Only certain items can be delivered free for the over $35 category.

@ciao_bella Why is this an issue? You have to decide for yourself where to order and at what price. It happens to us all.
