Re: Check In Please....from this latest winter storm

It was 3° this morning at my hacienda here in the Desert Southwest.  I had an appointment time of 8am to pick up groceries at Wal-Mart, and it took me 30 min just to get the ice off of the windshield.  We got 3-4" of snow Wednesday but the streets were clear and dry since it was bright and sunny yesterday.  Wal-Mart did a marvelous job clearing  their parking lot.  Cold to continue for the next week.

@northiie57 What a beautiful photo, but I sure wouldn't want to be there. Yikes!

Re: Check In Please....from this latest winter storm

I think we lucked out after the almost 30 inches of snow we got last week.  Yesterday it was mid 40's and today it's 30.  We got rain and icy sleet and roads were treacherous this morning.  It's raining now and that is a great blessing because it is melting the snow.  I'm looking out the window and all that t remains is some small piles on the lawns.

28 degrees here at 1:00 p.m. central time, DFW area. We had freezing rain, then sleet, then snow so it will be a while before it thaws.

Thankfully we haven't lost power.

Re: Check In Please....from this latest winter storm

We were lucky and got sleet instead of the freezing rain they were predicting. One degree in temperature made all the difference. Freezing rain would have covered more tree branches and caused them to come down on power lines.  Our roads are icy and we got snow this morning on top of yesterday's ice. Very cold temperatures hanging around for a few days so nothing will be melting for awhile. Very glad to still have power.

Re: Check In Please....from this latest winter storm

Here in my corner of NE PA it was 27 degrees during the noon news/weather show. Snow showers this afternoon with temps to drop to single digits tonight and the wind picking up. We had rain yesterday and over night, then sleet and some freezing rain. Trees and power lines coated with some ice.

Power has stayed on which is shocking. Our power goes out if a bird clears its throat. With the wind picking up and the ice on the lines it is a k*ap shoot if it will stay on.

Everyone keep warm and safe. I would be tickled pink to see 50 degrees.

Southern WV had rain yesterday; a mix of rain and snow today.   Schools were closed today due to presence of ice early this morning.

Re: Check In Please....from this latest winter storm

Glad you are okay up there as I know how hard the Hill Country got hit!  Down here in S.A., where I am in far north Bexar, just massive rain.  The cold doesn't bother me being I'm from the north so no biggie.  Very glad to be able to work from home for sure!

I felt SO bad for all those people stuck on I-10 overnight - that was a nightmare but they finally got them going this afternoon.

No loss of electricity either, thankfully!!
