We can say "sex".

We just can't say we have been assaulted unless we have proof.

Or, we can SAY we have been assaulted, but we won't be BELIEVED unless we have proof.

The thing that I find astonishing about the Charlie Rose allegations is that so many (in my opinion) folks that are smart and wired into the news industry are more than surprised by these headlines based on their Twitter feeds as it is clear this was new to them as their normal snark is glaringly missing.

Maybe it goes to show you how compartmentalized secrets can be kept . . .

In general and not necessarily talking about CR.  In general, some people are devious, and will corner another person when nobody's looking.  Could be a family or friend situation, etc.  where not many would believe it.  That's when the perp(s) call the victim 'silly'.  When, in fact, they are the silly, immature ones.   Just sayin'..........

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

@Sweet_Serenity for me, I think this is a cathartic time for our nation.  People that have had to put up with so much for so long are saying enough of business as usual.  We have lost our balance and hopefully through all of these relevations we may find the balance we have been seeking for a very long time.

One of the women who reportedly "cried throughout the encounter" is the most interesting to me.

She was in her mid-30's at the time.  She wanted a job.  She was at his house and ended up in his bed somehow...she isnt sure.  And then called the next day to see if she'd gotten the job.

She didn't.

What do you think? If she had, would we be hearing her story today?

yes why wouldn't we hear it?

@lovescatsShame maybe?  Did you READ what I posted?  He all but raped her and she called after that, the next day, to ask if she'd gotten the job she wanted...working for the guy who all but raped her.

If he did hire her after that night, and she was still working for him today, I don't see why she would come forward with details about what he did.

Job or no job, I'm surprised she's talking about it anyway.  What he did, she cried throughout it, and the morning after, "Hey, Charlie...did I get the job?"

Please.

@esmerelda  yes I read what you wrote.   So either way job or no job she shouldn't have brought it up or told anyone what happened?

@lovescatsI'm not saying she shouldn't have.  What bothers me is that after what he did to her she still had hopes of working for him.  Isn't that like telling him what he did to her was okay?

Then again if she's stupid enough to do that, she's not smart enough to understand how bad it looks to admit it.

It's never "shared feelings" if the abuser is in a position of power.

You don't pursue your subordinates.  Even if you are both single adults.

I agree with you, load of krap.

It's not just "celebrities"

These situations occur every day in corporations everywhere.

There's always a "Charlie Rose" who thinks his sh it don't stink and can get away with anything.

I'd also like to add that female predators exist also.

I've been grateful for the h*rrassment thread (last week).  Even though my situation was and is a much smaller degree, these boards have made me realize that 'enough is enough'.  And 'no more'.  Without going into detail, Friday I actually had to wear ear plugs, just in case.   I had enough with the (very painful and swelled) previous loud ear-kiss, (which lasted a week).  (My doc suggested that I tell them to stop, but I told my doc that they (my cousins in their late 50's-early 60's) won't listen.  And they didn't.)  Long story short, my friend 'blocked'/held back one brother, and I managed to escape the other.  'Funny thing' is that we were standing directly below a surveillance camera.  If either one of them were to hurt my ear drum/area again, I'd have plenty of proof.

Keep in mind that 'those two' don't do this to anyone else in the family.  Only to me, who minds my own business and I'm naturally nice/kind to everyone.

I previously mentioned this somewhere:  Maybe we should wear small camera-pendant necklaces.  One necklace worn in front, and possibly another one worn hanging at our back.  So we will have the proof.  Hey, Lori Grenier.  It would be a great inventon in this day, age, and era.
