Charleston, SC

I am going on a vacation to Charleston, SC. I went a couple of years back on a work trip, and the trip was pretty much tour-guided. This year it is just friends going, we're going to be on our own. Does anyone have any suggestions of things we must do or try? We have decided on Boone Hall Plantation and eating one night at Poogan's Porch.
