Re: Charleston Opinions on Summer Heat and Driving

I love Charleston -- sure it gets hot (but it is the humidity that is the worst). Inever lived anywhere but the south and southern California -- I do not like long cold winters!

Do you have grandchildren? If so, you'll miss them growing up. Buy a heavier coat and stay put. You can always rent a place down south during the coldest months.

I LOVE Charleston!! Its a beautiful and interesting city. We live in the south, have visited Charleston often over the years, would love to move there. Wonderful dining, beaches close by, lots of history and character in the historic district, and great shopping! Its hot in the summer but I do not feel its any hotter than any place else in the area. Give me heat any day over slipping on ice, needing snow shovels, salt, and cinders!

Before moving permanently, spend a summer and fall in Charleston, see if you want it to be permanent or perhaps you would prefer to stay where you are and spend only the winter in the south.

Re: Charleston Opinions on Summer Heat and Driving

I wish that we're possible. We moved here 2 years ago to be near family. We almost have to make appointments weeks ahead of time to see our granddaughters. There parents have them enrolled in every possible activity known to exist. They are now in school and their world is full of that and friends as it should be. We also have discovered there isn't a lot for seniors here that love history etc. Columbus is a great place for families, but not seniors.

If you're about to get a new car, think of getting air cooled seats. Heated seats are great for the North, but bought a used car that had both heat and air seats. Love how quickly they make you feel comfortable in hot weather---remember we get 90 degree weather up here too!!!
