Sadly, I don't think the penalty would affect crimes like his. He was originally sentenced to death but when the California Supreme Court overturned the death penalty, his sentenced was changed to life imprisonment. I don't think there would be any deterrent that would prevent the most heinous of crimes because these murderers think they are all powerful and can get away with anything.

It's always a victory for me when I remember why I entered a room.

That woman was born too late. She has that same look as some of his devotees did when they were young, and had she been around in the 60s, she probably would have found her way into his cult. It's very sad that she's throwing away her life like that, but chances are that he won't be around for a really long time and then she'll be free to find another 'project'.
