@Another new name Sue wrote:Surely they can block the press out if they wished. I don't understand why it would be so public. This must be the culmination of months and years of family illness, so very stressful.
I am sure Celine had the final say and for some reson she chose to have camera's.

this family has asked that the public respect their privacy and that is exactly what should be being done. Reporters taking pictures at funeral without permission should be arrested.

Rene put his own funeral together, which is a blessing in my opinion. My Dad did that, and I did not even have to think. I was so thankful, everything was his wish, not my idea. Really takes the stress off.
That said, The funeral and all the pictures released WERE PLANNED by Rene, released through his own company (I have to go back to read the article again. Can't remember the name of his company).
His funeral is going to be live streamed through is own company too at 3pm today. His wish, his company, his money, he can do, and NO ONE can judge. My opinion.
This seems odd to us, but apparently they are considered "royalty" by the public in Canada. Rene wanted to follow the customs of how he grew up. He wanted control over what pictures were released, he wanted fans to be able to attend via the live stream if they so choose. He did not want Celine to have to hassle with trying to outrun the paps, and not worry about what pictures were released.
The uber wealthy that do not need to 'sell' pictures to get more money have the tendency to release their own pictures, therefore not letting paps with long lenses the ability to intrude and publish pictures without approval. Rene nipped that right in the bud by having his own company take the pictures, and his own company will run the live stream, etc.
He certainly made sure that as much stress as possible was NOT on Celine. I can only dream of ever finding or experiencing their love.
Many people will judge his actions, but I think that even in death, his main concern was Celine and his kids. I say kudos to him.
My heart bleeds for Celine. If you think about her grief, she is not only grieving as a wife and a mother, that 12 year old little girl who idolized Rene for kick starting her career, who was her manager for many, many years, and who looked at him as "a father figure" first is grieving very deeply. The child within.
Add her brother dying 2 days later of the same thing, I just cannot fathom how much her heart hurts right now.
They may have been married 22 years, but she really has to also heal the 12 year old inner child too. They have really been together 61 years!
She seems so strong, but even being strong, she looks so so fragile. God bless her.
The story of the live stream is on Yahoo's fromt page. 3pm if interested.
She stood in 5 inch spike heel shoes for SEVEN (7)!!! hours, shaking every hand that came through. Whew. What love they had.

I just saw the same clips on Access Hollywood, apparently this service was open to the public, there will be a private one next week.

The funeral is streaming live (right now) for any peepers. Google it.
I found this interesting. He was an awesome guy. What love she had, something I will never know.
"When Celine hit it big in the U.S., Rene still used Quebec people to work on production, etc. I read today that their team was still 100% Quebec, and they spent a lot of time getting visas to work in the U.S., etc. One of them said it would have been much easier for him to just hire people in New York or L.A., but he and Celine insisted on bringing their Quebec people. He also donated millions to a paediatric hospital in Quebec and worked hard to help other Quebec musicians. This is why he was beloved in the province, and why there is such a big turnout. It sounds also like he was a very kind and giving man."

So hard to see. Eddy and Nelson are only 5 ![]()
The 15 y/o is struggling. Celine is struggling. God hug them ![]()

I can't believe their son is 15!

Access Hollywood said their son is 14, no real difference.

I read the pictures were furnished to the public by a company the deceased man owned. He arranged everything before his death.
Maybe he felt he'd rather have his employees deliver tasteful pictures than invasive ones taken by paparazzi.
I cannot imagine losing your husband and brother within days of each to the same horrible disease.
