Re: Celebrities, realized how much I read about them

I don't care about any of the celebrities.  I used to occasionally watch the "entertainment" shows about them, but I don't even do that anymore.

If someone is being interviewed on a talk show, I may listen if I think they will have something interesting or insightful to say, which they often do.

I will say that I am tired of Kelly Clarkson.  I certainly don't seek her out, but she seems to be freaking everywhere, and I don't particularly care for her.  Sometimes they get sooooooo overexposed (Ophra) that I just want them to disappear and go live their quiet life with their millions.

@pupwhipped

Betty White was always worth reading about, and the tributes to her have been very nice.

But now the Yahoo news headlines are full of comments on Betty that just need to stop.  Do we really need to know what this actor/actress really thought of Betty, or who called her an unkind name, etc.?

The media takes everything too far.

Oh yes, @RedTop, I'm not up for any of that kind of reading. The good things Betty did in this world could never be taken away in my view. Woman Happy

I hope people realize that "celebrities "(and I use that term loosely) are PAID for every article or post about them. More "drama", more money for them!!

So those with hourly posts about something or who find "romance/true love" (again said loosely) with another celebrity are mostly doing it for the almighty dollar. Most articles are overly dramatic & photoshopped to the hilt, most relationships/marriages are fake to promote a new movie, TV show or other business venture, and most have pumped billions into the plastic surgery world. Why would I waste MY precious time on that??? A very few minority are probably real people and do real nice things, but it's certainly by no means a majority by any stretch of the imagination.

Really?  Is that so?   What is your source for this, and just how does someone get paid .... from some sort of clearinghouse?

I've lived in the greater Los Angeles area for many years, and have friends and acquaintances that are both in front and behind the camera ..... writers, teamsters, makeup & hair people ... the list goes on.   A major television studio is nestled in a partly residential area,  behind trees, just a stones throw from my house.   My ex was in the business.

I've known a lot of people in the entertainment business over the years ... and have never heard of what you claim.   So ...  What's your source for this?

Re: Celebrities, realized how much I read about them

At the moment, I can't think of any of them that I really am interested in!  The media usually picks a few and then they just harp about them continually.  The Jen and Ben thing, Kanye and his bunch, Kardashian anything --- so sick of all of it.  I honestly couldn't care less.....

Re: Celebrities, realized how much I read about them

If you think celebrities or wanna be famous people post anything or are "seen" in public(of course where they will get photographed and probably paid for it) without it benefiting them, than you are blind to the "contacts" you supposedly know. It's all a constant money making machine & to believe otherwise is not opening your eyes to the truth.

And no, not all relationships and marriages are fake or for show, but a good bit are in Hollyweird. That should be obvious to pretty much anyone!! ALL those "manly men" or "prim & proper ladies" back 50-70 years ago that now that they're gone the truth came out about them, their lifestyle, etc? You think that's still not happening today where people pretend to be someone they are not, just to make more money with more adoring fans????

I unfortunately know more than I should & frankly it's just not my way of life to live in LA LA land.

Betty White was a good one in my opinion. And there are other genuine good famous people too-not saying they don't exist at all!
