Cecil Killer Re-opening Dental Practice

With an armed security guard at the door. He's also been spotted walking through the neighborhood, so he's apparently no longer in hiding.

I don't know why anyone should be surprised.   Was he supposed to live in witness protection?   Perhaps he should start a fund raiser to pay for the guards at his home and business.  Dentist voodoo dolls?image.jpg

Hopefully nobody will use his services.  I wouldn't want to be in that clinic, armed guard or not.  Mostly though I would NEVER go to that dentist for what that coward did.

Re: Cecil Killer Re-opening Dental Practice

I'm sure there's many people who wouldn't care that he's a hunter (to me there's really no difference between *trophy* hunter, deer, quail, rabbit, etc. hunters).  Or people who do the catch and release kind of fishing whereas they throw a fish back in the water after they've retrieved their hook and all the fish's guts connected to it so the fish doesn't stand a chance.  Or people who go into restaurants and pick out the biggest lobster in the tank for their din din to be boiled alive.  Or even people who don't really give a hoot where their chickens, cows, pigs and cheeses come from and what kind of life they led.

So I'd say that's a lot of people who will show up for a teeth cleaning.

He can open his doors for business but that doesn't mean that he will be busy.I think it will take time for him to rebuild the practice.I wouldn't be a patient knowing that my dollars could be funding his next kill.

Re: Cecil Killer Re-opening Dental Practice

I understand the emotion behind the killing of Cecil but let's keep things in perspective.  As far as we know, the hunter did not break any US laws or any laws of the African nation that he hunted in.  If any laws were broken, if anyone is responsible for Cecil's slaughter; it's the PAID guides who escorted the hunter.  I think the dentist got caught up in a situation that was not of his making.  I'm most definitely against hunting but like it or not, it does exist and it's legal.  I pray I live to see the day when it ends everywhere in the world.   I certainly don't think a man should lose his business and his livelihood or even be branded for life just because he got caught up in tragic circumstances that got too much over-the-top publicity.  Of course, he's re-opening his dental practice.  Did anyone think he was going to give up work forever?  He'll probably lose a few patients but not many.  Now that the furor has blown over, people who are looking for dentists aren't going to let Cecil's demise be the deciding fact.

I agree with Chrystaltree.  What he did was terrible, but enough is enough.  He has to make a living, as do the people who work in his office.

I am really sorry that Cecil died because I cannot stand baited hunting.  I guess I feel that this is unfair. And I do wish the best for his pride.   But...

We all hunt. You may not realize it but when you go to the grocery store to buy meat, you are a hunter. You just didn't do the hunting yourself. The meat is there and you found it and guess what someone had to do the work for you.

Hunting is a means to feed a family. Lots of people hunt just for this reason and not for the blood sport. Venison for instance is very good for you.

Just think of it this way the next time they allow someone to kill a anything anywhere it should be the rules of the land that if you killed it you eat it!!

Believe that, if it makes you feel better.  Personally, I'm convinced he knew exactly what they were doing and was complicit in it.

If you've paid any attention to the coverage of this man, you'll have learned that in 2009 he was convicted of illegally poaching a bear in the U.S..  He twice lied to federal wardens about it, claiming he shot the bear within the area he had a permit for and not 40 miles outside that area, in a protected preserve.

He also tried to bribe his hunting companions to the tune of $20,000 to back up his lies.  When they wouldn't, he finally admitted what he'd done and pleaded guilty to a felony.

He thinks his money "buys" him whatever he wants, regardless of the law and unless he's held accountable for this latest crime, he'll continue to do so.

And please don't take my word for any of this.  Do your research and you will find out for yourself - unless you also think federal agents and the courts are lying about this "fine upstanding citizen".

There is a wildlife expert in African who doesn't believe for a minute that Walter Palmer and his guides didn't know what they were doing.  He said, given all the evidence, they targeted Cecil and tried to cover it up by moving the radio collar around (to make it seem as if Cecil was moving), then hid the collar in a tree.  Didn't know what they were doing?  Right...and I still believe in Santa Claus.

Killing an animal for no other reason than to put its head on your wall and its hide on your floor is hardly in the same category as killing to feed yourself or your family.
