One of the things I worried about was...what if I moved my head while he was cutting? Problem solved with the tape.

Re: Cataract Surgery...Reporting in

My head was not taped down and there was a drape over my face, with just a cutout for the eye he was doing and that eye was numb and paralyzed. In fact, later that evening, my husband said it was still not moving, while the other one was normally following his finger. My pupil was still dilated and I had double vision until the next morning. But, I didn't have any discomfort at all.

As I said, everyone has a different experience. By the time I saw him at 11 am the next day, my vision had returned to normal and it was 20/20. No more glasses - so far. I stopped the drops after 4 weeks, and will stop the second eye's drops this coming Wednesday. It was just 3x a day and then I will be finished.

Re: Cataract Surgery...Reporting in

I was told I needed cataract surgery and found out the eye is removed during the surgery and I chickened out. That's what is freaky to me. I am terrified of anything being done to my eyes.

I'd check that out. Don't think it's true.

I was told (on phone) by my doctor's nurse. I had read about it and simply asked her that question and she said Yes. So, no one has heard of this being done?

I don't think she told you that your eye would be removed. They removed the clouded lens and replace it with a clear lens.

Why don't you google (what is removed during cataract surgery) and then find a youtube video and you can see the whole thing for yourself.

You need to tell your doctor that his nurse is giving out information that is really not true. She needs to be removed..... LOL

Anyway, please don't chicken out and have it done if you need it. Millions of people have it done every day and nobody is having their eyes removed.

I will make another appointment with the eye surgeon and tell him what his nurse said. I will also look for a video to see how it's done. Thank you for your help!
