Cat's and Hairballs

What can I use to clean up the mess from my Cat's they seem to be doing it a lot lately. One can only have a prescription food and mothing else so both cats eat the same food. They shed a lot and one is long haired. What can I use to remove the mess? I mean cleaners or steam cleaners. Please help!
