Re: Casinos opening

[ Edited ]

To those who have tried to return to their pre-Covid lives, I wish you the best of luck. Given that several states have not yet seen a decline in cases despite their attempts to return to "normal" I predict disappointment. With every city experiencing protests without masks and social distancing, we will be plunged once again into the Covid-19 disaster.

We live in Reno/ Sparks NV,  I’m trying to understand how opening the Casinos is going to work. We drove by one today and the parking lot was packed. How can they do the six foot rule?

I was thinking the same thing.  It shocked me they opened.  I guess more shocking people waited in line to get in.  I live in the same area.  I am also shocked that people have money to gamble.  Well good for them I guess.  The virus is still around and I think people are forgetting about it.

Hey neighbors!  Smiley Happy

Yeah, this casino opening is certainly a concern.   I wish all this were simple but I get that it's not.   I guess we'll see what happens but you won't catch me anywhere near downtown!

The husband is down in LV yesterday/today and I really pushed him to be super careful.  I'm concerned because he tends to be rather careless.   Then he's going down to LA and - I don't even want to think about how this ends.  I'm in a bad position, due to my age, upper respiratory problems, and auto-immune system condition.   *sigh*   I guess I'll just see what happens there, too.  Smiley Sad

Hi neighborsSmiley Happy  Have a nice Sunday.  Weather is so nice this morning.  Nice and cool.

I am sooooo happy that we are having cooler weather for the weekend!!!    I hate the heat and it seems like every year there is less winter and more heat.    Just thrilled, plus it's cloudy this morning and I love cloudy.  Smiley Happy

That's a decision made by your governor.
Everything is open in our state and has been for a few weeks.

Churches are making their own decisions on whether to hold service.
And by the way cases are spiking in our state. And the icu's have just announced that they are at capacity because of new cases.

Where are you located?  Just wondering where the ICUs are full.  That is scary to hear.  I think the next few months will be the true test of this virus without having anything shut down.

Too many people haven't taken this serious because the lockdowns worked and we were able to flatten the curve, but just forgetting about the virus and pretending it is gone is not going to make it disappear.

For me, since I am not high-risk, I haven't been scared about going back into the world, but will continue to be cautious and have been focusing on improving my own health with sleep, nutrition and exercise.  I hope that other people have been doing the same as we reach close to 110K deaths.  Imagine what that number will be by the end of summer, very sad.

I think people understand that casinos aren't opening because it's safe. They're opening so they can make money. If people choose to take that educated risk, fine by me. Hope it's your lucky day.

One difference now is that testing is readily available in most states and many states have implemented contact tracing.  It's now much easier for someone to find out if they have the virus and to isolate themselves and those they've come into close contact with.  We did not have this capability at the onset of the outbreak.

Porcelain & others who think only their decision counts, COVID19 demands we think of others we might infect or cause an early death. What about the RN's, MD's, respiratory therapists & all others in the fight to save you or your loved ones?
