The Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach is a good example. Some of you seem so down on lavish weddings, perhaps because you can't afford to throw one yourself?
Don't need to. I was married almost 24 years ago and my wedding suited my needs just fine and was quite lovely. I have no kids so paying for a wedding won't be an issue. I just don't understand the need to fork out that kind of money for one day but that's just me. Everyone is obviously free to do what they want.
me either -- it is more for show for many. I don't get the need for a lavish wedding.
And I have traveled to many bigtime resorts for meetings -- a full ballroom of diners -- "fancy" dinners served were not so great. But like I said, it takes a lot to wow me for a dinner.

I don't see anything wrong with a fancy wedding as long as the people can afford it. I see no sense in going into debt for it.

I'm totally with you on this one, scottie. Personally, I LOVE going to fancy, lavish weddings! I find it hard to believe all these people who say they don't like them. How can you not? Unless you're paying for it.....and you really can't afford it, I guess....
But otherwise, bring on the caviar and lobstah!

Must be a regional thing.
Guess that's why we weren't invited to the big K&K wedding this weekend. It pays to be cheap sometimes.

there's not a "need" for a lot of things, donna. Do you own an expensive bag? Car? shoes? A lavish wedding might be a life long dream for some people. If they can afford it....more power to them.
