I thought I would let others who use cash back sites like Rakutan, Ibotta, Tada (formerly Shop at Home), etc. to keep an eye on their credits.
The other day I ordered two of the same item from QVC in different colors. Let's say that each item cost $10. In the past, the order receipt from QVC would way $20 plus tax plus shipping for a grand total. On these sites, we only get credited for the amount of the actual purchase so I would be credited for a percentage of $20.
HOWEVER, now I see that QVC shows Item #1 Order Subtotal at $10 and Item #2 Order Subtotal at $10 yet shows a total tax for two items on one line and total shipping for two items on one line. The grand total of the order is still correct BUT, when one of these cash back services looks at the order they look at the cost of the item at the top of the page and that order number, which shows $10. They don't look beyond that so you only get credited for a percentage of the first $10 because the second $10 was assigned a different order number by QVC.
What happened to me was that I went through a cash back service as always and ordered two items on one order, or so I thought. I was only credited for the item at the top, not for the second item. THEN, I noticed that QVC had assigned a different order number to the second item. As far as the cash back site is concerned it looks like I placed the first order through them but not the second order because it had a different order number. QVC made one order into two thus preventing me from collecting my percentage back for the second item. This is not fair!
I can understand why QVC might want to treat each item separately for shipping purposes but I don't understand how you can break out the cost of items individually yet calculate tax and shipping as totals AND then assign a different order number to the second item in your order making it look like two orders instead of one. How am I being billed and why should I have to do all the calculating!
It was a lot easier to understand before and I was credited for my entire purchase from the cash back sites. Now, I'm in a disagreement with the cash back site even though I provided a copy of my receipt showing that the purchase was made through them at the same time and that I have no control over QVC creating a second order number.
