The author, Carol Higgins Clark, daughter of beloved author Mary Higgins Clark died June 12, 2023 of cancer of the appendix her family reported.  She was 66. 
So sad and very young. I had never heard of anyone dying let alone getting appendix cancer.  May she rest in peace.  https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/16/books/carol-higgins-clark-dead.html

I have never heard of cancer of the appendix either, I guess they must not have caught it in time to just remove the appendix.

Truly a sad loss, to a disease that seems like it shouldn't even be able to exist. Unfortunately, appendix cancer is often not discovered until it has spread thoughout the abdomen, so it's very challenging to treat.

My neighbor has been dealing with cancer of the appendix for the last 3 years and things are not going well for her now. As sick as she is I see her out walking the dog every day. She's a real trooper.

Oh how sad, I read quite a few of her books, in particular the Alvirah and Willy series, very quirky writer. RIP
