Gee, folks, thanks for all the helpful feedback.  Guess I will just tolerate the sparrows.  I am going to try the safflower seed and see if that makes a difference.  Maybe I just think the sparrows are agressive because I don't like them as well as the cardinals Smiley Happy

Birds I've noticed also eat in shifts -- some eat early, some come around lunchtime, but all birds come as the sun is seting. They need to eat enough food to survive the night -- especially in winter months.
