no, they cancelled a few last year but there was one to be this weekend. now, there will be no more 'death to jews' rallies under the guise of 'free palestine.'

You're wrong. It's verbatim from an article in the Daily Mail published July 2014.

It is still important that the did this even if it did not deter events since.

i got so excited in seeing the headline on twitter that i posted prior to researching the date. hopefully, france has finally woken up. hopefully, after todays events it will no longer be open season on jews.

I agree it is chilling.

Fascism is a huge problem in France. IMO the French aren't doing nearly enough to condemn political parties like the Front National.

I am glad you posted it nonetheless. I am sure there were people here who didn't know this.

I think the FN will gain a bigger foothold and I don't blame them considering what has been allowed. I do not agree with Extreme right wing Governments but this is what happens when a Government has let other extremists run the country.

I know there are people who love France. Personally I'm not a fan. I'll leave it at that.

I didn't know this so thank you for posting. Still don't care for the country. I was there years ago and the anti-American sentiment was pretty obvious.

Re: Caravaggio, are you around?

O/T: Cara, I saw this thread and just wanted you to know that I saw your last post to me on the one yesterday that was closed. I appreciate what you said, and admit that my frustration sometimes gets the best of me and I might say something I shouldn't. Or at least something that could be worded in a more tactful way. I guess we all need to be more aware of how our words come across when we can't see a person in front of us... I enjoy discussions, and disagreements are part of that. I have no problem with people who have a different opinion from mine, and I really try hard (maybe not always successfully) to make my comments about the topic and about the person's opinion, and not about the "person" themselves. I think that's when things go downhill.

So just wanted you to know I appreciated your response, and hope we can "agree to disagree" in the future, but maybe we can also inject some humor -- that wouldn't be a bad thing! Smile Have a great day!

Re: Caravaggio, are you around?

Kitty I appreciate your post and I see myself in your words. Thank you I for my part need to step back and think before I post. I truly do not want to offend someone personally and when I do I leave feeling bad. In person I really am not so abrasive so I have no call to be that way on here. Anonymity is not an excuse for my behavior. I am happy to agree to disagree. And to keep posting in a constructive way that builds understanding of different points of view. I hope you have a wonderful weekend as well!
