Re: Car door locks-remember?

My husband had a company work truck a few years ago that had roll down windows.  The company specially ordered the vehicle and to save a couple bucks (litterally I imagine) they ordered it with roll down windows and manual door locks.

We had one similar with the back window that was slanted and went down.  A white 1965 Ford Galaxy.  With plastic seat covers.  You froze in the winter and stuck to them all summer.

Re: Car door locks-remember?

Up until 8 years ago, the vehicle I was driving still needed keys to access and start. I now have a key fob for current car (which is 10 years old). I figure the fancier the vehicle, the more to go wrong and big bucks to fix. I'm good with a radio, auto windows and AC as "extras".

We had a blue mercury and the slanted window in the back went town. Our family of 6 made many trips in that car. Memories. That’s the car we had when we moved from Houston in ‘65.😢

I'm a nut case about reading the owner's manual when I get a new car, but my current 2014 isn't that complicated, and I really don't need all that extra stuff they put on cars now.  I just get in, buckle up, start the thing, and drive!

I feel the same about owners manuals as I do 15-ingredient recipes. lol 😂

Re: Car door locks-remember?

I love my 18 year old van.  I put $4000 worth of repairs to make it ship shape.  It has 40,000 original miles.  Nothing fancy. I will never sell it for a new car that is all confusing.  My husband has one of those! I just want a car that drives....turn the key and go.

My truck has roll down windows, manual/key in door locks, sliding back cab window, and a five speed transmission.  2006.

@chickenbutt  When you take your car in for oil changes or whatever, be sure to ask them to add air to that spare tire. You never know if you might need it. (Although it may not hold air after 21 years. IDK.) Kudos to you and the longevity of your car! Is it a GM?

@cookinfreakDo you remeber the dimmer switch for your headlights being in the floor, you would press it down with your left foot  when you needed to put them on bright or dim.

@webbgarner1, I had forgotten all about that dimmer switch!!!  What a trip to remember that!  Sometimes it's amazing what we forget when things change so much over the years.
