Usually when a sales person stops calling is because they "sold" the car you were interested in & the person paid higher than what you wanted to pay for it.
I am in the market for a new car. I have been researching for a year. The 2017 Ford Fiesta I want does not come out till October. Maybe the last few weeks of September.
I do not want all the bells & whistles. Just the basics-radio, automatic transmission & everything else that is "standard." No extras. I do not have the inclination of pursuing a Ph.D just to learn how to use all the bells & whistles.
After much researching, I am going the True Car route. Lucky for me, there is a "True Car" dealership 2 miles from me. So once the newer Fiestas comes out, I will be visiting the dealership on Sundays when the place is closed, check out all sticker prices & colors available to get the ball rolling when it's time to wheel & deal. A male will accompany me **just in case.** ![]()
SIDEBAR: The dealerships in my area hire HIGH SCHOOLERS to teach those interested in buying how to use all the gadgets these newer cars have now.

We just bought a Land Rover L4 landmark, and I am officially in love. I don,t think I have ever seen a commercial for it though. Has anyone else?
I just watch too many British television programs, lol

I have been a "car guy" since 1950. Loved and also raced cars for many years. Now I DVR almost every tv show I watch, mainly to fast forward past the commercials.
When I see car commercials go by on FF, I many times do a fast reverse to watch it. I am not seeing all these "fast and expensive cars" you mention. Fact, most of the ones I see, do not even show the price of the car. I have seen some that "lease" cars for X$$$$ per month, but never seen an actual MSRP on any of the cars.
How can a car be "loud" on a tv commercial, unless one cranks up the volume on their tv or audio output? Are these commercials showing the speedometer or tachometer so you can see the speed?
You've lost me on this one, I just don't get why you listed all these things about car commercials.
Do you own a time shifting electronic device? If not, you might give it some thought. That way you can buzz right on by any commercial you don't want to watch, or hear "expensive loud cars".

We bought a Nissan Sentra exactly a year ago this past weekend.
I love that little car.

New cars don't matter much to me, just that they are dependable and don't break down on me ever. However, I just got a new Kia, and I have to admit I am loving my Panic Button, Opening doors & trunk buttons. It's got so many new things, I just read the book as I need them. Never understood the desire or interest men have in owning the newest and latest gadgets, etc. on new cars. And I sure don't care if they go l00 miles an hour. What for?

I won't buy a new car. I have in the past but see no reason to I hit up CarMax for 2 year old when I need to buy one. I'll be in the market next year and I'll see what they have regarding Expedition's.
I haven't noticed the increase in ad's, to be honest.

These commercials showing cars going fast... and on rugged terrain are made for the male viewer.... men like a fast and rugged car. Women want a safe car.... a pretty car.... it is all marketing.
As far as price, yes, I agree that the average American probably is buying a car that they can not afford. It is like the American Dream. People want nice cars and nice homes. They will go into debt to have these two things.... become slave to the payments. It is truely sad.....

@ShowMe,I agree. So many car commercials show the cars racing around streets. One even has kids on the sidewalk watching the car roar by. Not a pretty sight and how does that sell cars?
I just want a car that runs well and isn't a dented rust bucket. I drive a 5 year old Nissan Rogue, runs well, looks good. My DH drives a 15 year old Buick, pristine and rides like a dream. I doubt he would ever give that car up and why should he,it's never given any problems.

I have a 2013 Toyota Carolla that I bought in 2014, that had only 11,000 miles on it.
I plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off.

I'm still hanging onto my 2005 Mercury Montego with less than 50,000 miles on it. I love this car!
