In cars with a battery - I am talking about hybrids.
Does anyone know how long a battery lasts and the cost?
Or is it the particular make/model that makes the difference on longivety and cost?

The price for replacement batteries seems excessive (from what I have read).
When we compare the traditional gas powered car to a hybrid and add in the cost of a new battery (and additonal price of the sticker price) ..hybrids just do not seem like a good value to us.

Not only are batteries expensive for hybrids, battery replacement for electric vehicles is just as costly if not more expensive than those for hybrids.

@Mom2Dogs I can only speak for my vehicle. I'm driving a 2007 Toyota Hybrid Highlander. It has a bit over 103,000 and I'm the original owner. When I purchased it, the hybrid batteries were guarantareed to 10 years or 150,000 miles. It holds 5 passengers (2 front, 3 back).
I follow a guy on youtube who is a Toyota mechanic and he told me my car should last a long time. It's a first generation hybrid......no filters in front of the batteries and they are under the rear seat. I was told never to put packages or block the vents under those seats. Also, a massive liquid spill in the back seat could kill the batteries. The only passenger in the back seat is the siberian husky.........and I have a huge rubber dog hammock that attaches to both front and passenger headrests preventing anything (except dog hair) from damaing the seats or falling on the floor.

@Mom2Dogs I agree 100%. However, we might not have the choice one day.......not too far off, I fear.

I think what will happen to gas-driven cars is that when it comes time to make repairs, their parts will no long be available and if they are then those parts will be expensive and most owners will not want to spend the money to fix their gas cars. Instead they will be forced into buying an EV.

@SilleeMee I always thought that 'they' had to make parts available for 10 years...but anymore who knows.
