We know NOTHING about this situation. I get it, we all like to speculate. We have rules in the military and unfortunately humans live in gray areas. So I will keep tabs on this story.

There are so many things I want to say about this but I've decided to "bite my tongue".  He did what was right.  How many of military are getting sick and the stats are being hidden from the public?

there was a long post yesterday about this and i responded with some answers. that post went completely missing. my sister is a nurse and works for the DOD/navy in a high level job. she said that as of two days ago, no figures were to be released on those serving who may have the virus.....not on installations and not on ships.

He had to know he was violating protocol, when he placed his crews' health above his career.  Yes, this was admirable, however, a warship Captain can never allow the public to have knowledge that their ship (or crew) is compromised, for any reason. This is privileged, internal information, always through chain of command. 

The reason this holds true in all circumstances is, that if a ship's crew, or performance is perceived weak, adversaries could take the opportunity to attack the vessel. This, of course, would put all crew in harms way and/or render the vessel disabled. 

I feel bad for Captain Crozier. Whistle blowing is not for the faint of heart. It always bites!  The Command will reject him for the violation, while others will see him as a hero.

You'd think that under these unique, historic circumstances,  there would be more understanding, for this caring individual,  but that's not how the military operates.

It shouldn't have had to come to this. We need to take care of our military. They don't have all the same rights as civilians do. They have to do as they are ordered.

It's bizarre that a Captain would even need to send such a letter up the chain of his command in the first place. The issues should have been addressed and taken care of right away.

How many of our military are sick right now? And what is being done about it? We need them! I hate to even suspect that the fact that this info is routinely withheld from the public, could be used to cover up neglecting the health of those who serve.

There are certain things, like any numbers, for example, of how many people are sick and unable to perform that are truly security risks, which was why the issue was raised, I am guessing. I understand his need to raise the issue, but any specific information is definitely a security leak.
