I just read that Capital One is acquiring Discover Financial Services.  It's a $35.3B deal.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Does this just go to show how much money is out there in credit cards?

   There will be higher fees for sure  and  the quality of service will go down . Capital One does not have a good reputation as a company

IMO,  Capilal One is just a small step above Sychrony Bank, which is pretty low.

Re: Capital One news

I've had a Discover card for years and years and it is my main credit card because I love their 5% cash back program.  Last month I came THIS close to getting a cd with Discover, online of course.  I'm glad now that I didn't.

The acquisition is going to take awhile and the cd would have been totally fine, but I went in another direction.

I have had exceptional success and service with Capital One over the years.

The rewards programs with my cards are fabulous.

Online CD rates are among the best available.

@gidgetgh

'Like you I use my Discover card almost exclusively. I've been a member since 1995.

I hope the change won't mean a difference with services.

@Alsace Gal - the article said that more than likely, the deal would result in more cards being switched to the Discover network.
