Re: Cancelling an item--QVC?

Ms Bookbabe - I do the same things you try but this doesn't always work ie somehow, some way to cancel within 24 hrs.

And YES I whole heartedly think we should have 24 hours to either keep it or cancel it.  I find nothing wrong with this practice.  ANd yes I shop on a few that do give you 24 hours to cancel.  I also shop on a few that even if you've placed an order and later want to add to it, they give you time to do this before they begin processing.

And even if here at the Q it reflects it's in process, you should still be able to cancel or edit it if you so choose.  Who really knows where the order's at 'in process' especially when it takes DAYS for it to REALLY be processed.  You can tell this by how long it takes to ge some things and I'm not talking advanced orders (which is a whole other topic and not a good one IMO).

I don't know of any place that gives you 24 hours to change your mind.  I worked for Talbots, and you could usually cancel within a few hours but no more than that.

Exactly. Sephora doesn't even give you one minute to cancel, even if you call in. I know I was able to cancel an item a few hours from ordering it from QVC but I thought that was pretty nice of them becaue I know of no other company that does that.

I guess they are cracking down on it because too many people probably do this and if people are impulse buying when they, say, see something onair, that takes it out of inventory. Then if it sells out and there were people who realy wanted it and you impulse buy then change your mind or have buyers remorse and cancel, well, QVC has lost those sales they truly could have had if you did not do that. Once something says it is sold out, most people won't go back to check to see if it is in stock again so the items just sit there longer than they would if a person who truly wanted it was able to buy it at that show time. That costs QVC more money.

I think the whole point is QVC DOES want you, OP,  to think about the purchase before you click the order button. They only want those that truly want it to buy it, not those that are unsure only to end up cancelling. So I suppose their stategy is working if that is what you are going to do.

Re: Cancelling an item--QVC?

Sometimes I will see something that I want to purchase, but I also want time to read any reviews before completing the buy.  I try to cancel an item, shortly after ordering, and the process would not let me complete the cancellation.  But then I call CS and they are always able to cancel.  Other times, I can cancel right away and then other times, I cannot cancel at all even with the help of CS.

Am not sure why the different responses to a cancellation, but I also think that a given wait time should be offered.  I do shop with other large, on line retail companies and many of them do offer a wait period which allows the buyer to cancel.
