Re: Cancelling PBS Passport

[ Edited ]

@lcubedsudbury - PBS is free to everyone.  PBS Passport is an added benefit for donors.  I've never heard of it being free anywhere.

It's not the same thing - as least where I am in New England.

(BTW, my Evergreen membership doesn't just include Passport.  It also has a lot of additional benefits, like deals at restaurants, attractions, etc..  Those things would likely vary depending upon location.)

i dont give anywhere near that much and it is "free" with my yearly donation.

i think it really depends on your local pbs station.

I donate to PBS 15 a month, and I get passport. Love the shows. But I don't watch it all the time. But I can claim the money I donate at end of year so it is a win win situation. I do agree they are hard to get hold of.

@shoekitty - That's what I do, too.  I started giving $15 a month years ago; where I am it's called being an Evergreen Member.  At the time I signed up, it gave us access to Passport and a number of other benefits.

I have no idea how it works in other areas of the country (I'm in New England).  We don't bother to claim it as a credit on our taxes, but I should get DH to look at that, as we have monthly donations to other organizations, too.

Shoekitty said,  yes, I have done for years as well it's a win, win situation.  I love shows like Miss Scarlet, murder club and many others.  And of course Call the Midwife, I have Britbox, but can't watch that on Brit box   Weird.
