In our state, you must put the mask on when you leave your house, no matter what you do or where you go.

Remember the good old days when we shouldn't wear masks because we didn't know how to properly put one on and it might cause us to touch our faces more?
The good old days were about six months ago. Ah, nostalgia.
The best advice now is put it on and forget it. And that really is the best practice. I admire people who can do that. They are people I want to hang out with. I want to be in the store with those people. I want them for my neighbors.
And then there's a bunch who are aware of best practices, but don't want to wear the mask when they are by themselves in the car and think they have mastered putting the mask on and off safely. Lay it on the seat next to them? Gosh, no. Germs! That's where the car mirror comes in. It can safely swing in the breeze there. Again, I'd hang out with those people. Good citizens.
The 'authorities' were really twisted about the mask and we're still suffering from it. I saw some of the CDC people answering questions on TV. They were wearing masks. My heart went out to them, they were trying. And then they took the mask off to answer the questions. All this emotional angst we're going through and you can't wear a mask when you're projecting moist particles out of your mouth?
Except the Surgeon General. He's my new hero. He kept his mask on to plead with us to wear masks. That's following your own message. Kudos to the guy.

Mine comes off as soon as I leave a business so I have not even gotten into my car with it still on. But I have seen some driving that way.

I'm usually going a fairly short distance. I put the mask on in front of my powder room mirror before i leave. Just easier for me. No biggie.

Why is anyone questioning mask wearing at all at this point in time, or looking for fault at all for one being worn? We should be so far past critiquing.
When a worn mask looks odd, I'd guess there is a reason that isn't mine to know..

'Could be' that they are driving to a place where they will be picking up someone else.
Or, maybe someone else previously was in their car and they want to try to protect themselves from the previous passenger's germs, etc.
Maybe some of them are Uber and other drivers.
Quite a lot of drivers are wearing masks around here.

Maybe those you've seen wearing a mask while driving work for Lyft or Uber or another rideshare service and are on their way to pick up a passenger(s).
Even meal delivery drivers are required to wear them while delivering food orders (thank goodness!)

Yeah, if I am going from one store to another, I just leave it on in between rather than taking off and then having to put on and re-adjust and get it situated. Also sometimes forget until I am half way home to take it off. I can't remember where it is...Starbucks maybe? Where you must wear it even in drive-thru.

not dumb: I wear one on my walks even tho I go very early and rarely see anyone else. when I do, I cross the street. the reason for the mask is unseen bikers and runners who come up from behind me, panting and sweating.....just being self-safe.
don't be so quick to judge. you also don't know what personal issues a person might have that needs extra protection. I have no underlying issues (no longer a prerequisite for getting the virus) but I am 'older'.
I for one am grateful to those who wear their masks; wherever they wear them: alone in cars, at home, public, etc.
