No.

My office tries to push online services but it seems few people want to use it.

When I had a job,  it was 99% people-oriented and not robot ready.

Since I design & make jewelry which means sawing, cutting, soldering, and setting stones in silver... I doubt it. At least I hope not. The artistic portion would be difficult to teach a robot.

In my professional career, no.

Since i I quit work, maybe yes, maybe no: I have discovered that I am adept at doing nothing. I relish having nothing to do, and my husband does, too. A robot could do nothing quite well, but would it enjoy it? Would it put out into the world the gratitude that I feel  because (a) I had a long and successful career, which I enjoyed, and (b) we were wise enough to listen to inner guidance and plan ahead so we could quit at 55. Actually, we put the concrete plans in motion at age 53 after years of discussing options. It was hard to keep quiet for two years. I knew within a range of a couple of weeks when I would giving notice six months before. I remember being on the company jet for a regular ny trip about six weeks before I quit. I felt I couldn't get the silly grin off my face, and the fact that I was so happy about it all--grateful for the past but glad to bid it adieu--told me I was doing the right thing. My last day at work? I kept wondering if tears would come. They never did! I feel I danced out of the building! Another sign that this was right. Hmmmm.... No. A robot would not be able to feel all the joy and gratitude that I do.

No, a robot could not do my job. Robots (AI) can do many things now, so I'd be open to having a few work for me in my department.

@libbyannE You inspire me! Happy for you.

@Goldengate8361

Thank you! I swim in summer, read a lot, do lots research into anything that interests me, practice my music, whatever.... Perversely, I am very good at sitting!!! We enjoy just hanging out and feel all due gratitude that we have time to do so. We both worked for decades--he worked long days and lots of evenings and weekends; I worked long days, many weekends, travelled a lot, constantly worried over tight deadlines, mentoring staff, etc.--so we value what we have. It doesn't take much to make us happy. I have been all over the world and the states and still think of getting on a plane as work vs pleasure because that was my life for so long. I know that do many people work just as hard and do not get to retire early. I am humbly grateful, if that makes any sense.  And now, just at a time when my elderly parents really need me, I am free to help them. It's all good.

Re: Can a robot do your job?

@libbyannE I'm quietly planning my exit, too.

Hard not to go in with a smirk on my face. I'll call on that day and just say "I'm not coming in today. Nor any other day".

My boss will piddle in his Depends.
