Companies need to hire educated employees as I think that would help.

I have lots of stories. I will tell the story "when I was working in "Customer Service".
I was working in the Accounting Department (not for very long). The company had 6 Customer Service Reps. There was a button on their phones to "make busy". So the call would just move to the next available rep. Well as you can guess it was a VERY popular option. Calls to Customer Service were backing up.
So since I was relatively new but had some knowledge of the computer system and billing they asked me to help out Customer Service. So being new I agreed. I knew what was going on with the seasoned Customer Service Reps but I felt that the bosses just wanted phones answered. They could have figured out the problem but chose to not address the cause of the problem.
I was not trained. Just told to go to Customer Service and help answer phones. So I did. Almost all the problems were with billing. People thought the bills were too much, or didn't have the money to pay etc. I had no idea what to tell these people. So I did the one thing I knew to do. I wrote off all their bills. Had lots of happy people and I kept the calls moving.
PS If the Customer Service Rep did not want to use the "Make Busy" button they would keep the customer on the line as long as possible, so they didn't have to take more calls.

@Tinkrbl44- It seems like honest people are penalized rather than the criminals. I know there was a big laundering scandal with TD Bank. Now, if I want to deposit money in our joint account via a check, and, my husband is physically present at the bank to do the deposit, I must make the check payable to my husband.
My mother in law, rest her soul, said she didn’t trust banks & after she passed we found money hidden all over her home. Maybe she was right!
With the advent of the internet, all sorts of criminals found all sorts of new ways to steal from and con people.
When I had my insurance license, I had to take a class on money laundering every year.
You'd be shocked at the number of "innocent" actions that could benefit thieves.
The simplest way? Buy something expensive and then return it.

I live in New Jersey. We have an amazing Mayor in our Town. He has lowered our municipal taxes or kept them steady since he was elected Mayor in 2009. Unfortunately, the School and County Taxes always increase. Everything in NJ State government's control always goes up. And unfortunately, I think things in New Jersey are just going to get worse next year.
@Boehm Collector @I feel the pain. Yes New Jersey, along with NY, Ca, Mass, PA and a few other states are the highest in nation. Not so much the tax rate , it is the cost of our homes, and added bonds, and impounds etc (as you mentioned) Also, New Jersey, along with the other states I mentioned are "donor states". A % of our federal portion goes to support the other 40+ states that don't have higher taxes,((mainly due to income) and the state can't support themselves without aid. I just figure, I wouldn't live anywhere else but Ca, and in every state it is something . If not cost it's weather, jobs, schools whatever. It's hard everywhere i guess

@Boehm Collector - I'm in NJ too. I think they'd tax the air if they could.
