Calling Kachina Look! My Christmas Cactus

@Kachina624

I took your advice for blooming and moved my plant for more light .

That didn't take long!

I think i may repot too but will wait a month or two.

@rockygems123. Congratulations!  Nice big bud.  I read somewhere that they like to be rootbound so you might want to rethink repotting.

Re: Calling Kachina Look! My Christmas Cactus

Oh, good to know, @rockygems123 and @Kachina624 .

We were given a Christmas cactus just before Christmas, and it has two little unopened red buds.  Still tightly shut.  And not as robust as yours, @rockygems123 !

I will try to give it more light during the day.

My Thanksgiving cactus has come and gone for this year, but that is how it always starts out, see one bud one day, next days more and more.

I'm so jealous ! My Christmas cactus looks the same as when it was given to me over 6 mos ago ! No blooms at over the Christmas holiday, maybe I should try a little more light as well.

Mine is usually covered with 50 or more flowers. Not this year. But there have been years it blooms late, like February or March. I have had it bloom twice in one year. This year it it only got a few blossoms

I live in WV just acrss the river from Steubenville ,Ohio. I put my cactus out in the spring when the temp warms up and bring it in just before it frosts, and it blooms like crazy. They love sun and also cool temps.I know sounds crazy.

Re: Calling Kachina Look! My Christmas Cactus

This thread made me go look at my photos from years ago of one of my MIL's Christmas Cactus (RIP, Gracie). She always had some lovely plants.

IIRC this started as a little $1 plant from Publix. Wish she was still here so I could ask her tips. I do remember that she always used fish emulsion for fertilizer Woman Wink

Very impressive! I love Christmas cactus but have never been successful with them!
