I never answer unless I recognize the number and even then, sometimes not.

If I don't recognize the #, I don't answer. Then I google it. I did not set up voice mail on my cell phone, on purpose, so I don't have minutes deducted for annoying calls. If it's my credit card company, they will either email me or text to have me call them (that happened in March, and they froze my card, did not pay the charge, and sent me a new card with a new acct. #). I've never had a call from the Commonwealth (we did our taxes in early Feb.), nor would I want one!

I got a call a couple of weeks ago and Caller ID showed my name and phone number....so I guess I was calling myself and just wasn't aware of it!...LOL
What's up with that?....Has this happened to anyone else?

So true!!
I never answer a number I don't recognize and never call a "missed" call back.

That hasn't happened to me but I do occasionally get disgusting spam emails from myself....and that annoys me to no end because then I wonder who else got them and think it's really me.

I must say that anyone who fears anwering the phone just because they don't know who is calling....should probably just have it taken out. So what if you don't recognize the caller? So what if a telemarketer gets through? Hang up! How sad it is when people are fearful of a ringing phone.

Why is this such a big deal to some people? Say ""I'm not interested"" and hang up. Some day you could miss an important call by not answering. What are you afraid the person on the phone is going to do to you?
Same with being afraid to answer the door.

It's better just to ignore unknown numbers. If it's important they'll call back or use my cell number which all family and friends have. I just cannot be bothered with these invasions of privacy several times a day. "Sad"?? "Fear" ?? It's neither of those.
