Many call centers are located in India. The workers are Indian which is why they have Indian accents. But I agree, sometimes it's a problem. It's no picnic with US call centers. Many call center reps are working from home and they sometimes act like you are bothering them when you call. Like they are doing you a favor by answering the phone. Yes, there are tvs playing, dogs barking, babies crying in the background.

Here are some memorable customer service calls that I was a part of:
-I once had a foreign customer service worker out of the blue say that he thought my voice was sexy- it was perversely flattering and it still makes me blush and smile
-I notice how a lot of foreign call centers use American names that are clearly not their real name- but one time I got this cheerful Indian girl on the line who made up a fun name that I'll never forget, "Quincy Queenie Bee" and I made sure to tell her that her names is so adorable and fun! ![]()
-I spoke to an American oven company customer service worker who was helping me figure out which brands of oven cleaner were safe for the oven and he told me I'm his last call of the day. I told him it was really nice of him to stay and talk to me at the end of his day and then I asked him about his dinner plans and what he was going to watch on TV and made him laugh for a while and then he got a little sad and said, "I have to clock out and I wish I could talk to you for the rest of the day and another time- thank you for making me feel special." He teared up and I told him that I had a lot of fun too and that he really is an expert in his trade and a lovely guy.
-Lastly, I called Bare Minerals the other day because they sent me another woman's foundation color and order and the rep from India was hard to understand and he had to ask me repeatedly what I was calling about, and he said " Very well- can you keep her foundation and use it on your skin?" And I said, "She's too dark for me and I'm too light for her!

In my jobs before a real career I worked in several customer call centers.
The best line I heard was a guy who asked me,
"What drugs are you on? I want some!"
Lol!

I don't care where the rep is working, if kids or dogs are in the background, if they have accents (we have an accent to their ears), etc. I care if they can resolve the issue.

EVERY person I've spoken to when I made the request to transfer the call to someone in the US spoke English WITHOUT an accent.
